Folren is a desktop studio that runs on your own computer. This page explains what this website collects, what the Folren app keeps on your computer, and what goes to the services you choose to connect.
This website
- No advertising or analytics pixels. The website does not include advertising or audience analytics. When accounts are enabled, account pages use security cookies and Cloudflare Turnstile to protect against automated abuse.
- Accounts. When account access is configured, Folren sends the name, email address and password you submit to Supabase Auth to create or authenticate your account. Passwords are processed by the authentication service; Folren does not store them in browser storage or application logs. If you choose Google sign-in, Google and Supabase handle the sign-in and provide your account identity. Disabled forms do not submit account details.
- Security data. Essential HttpOnly cookies keep you signed in and protect account requests. The application session lasts up to 12 hours. Short-lived security records in Redis enforce request limits and invalidate sessions; account and IP identifiers in these records are keyed hashes. Turnstile processes browser and network signals for its security check. Your authenticator setup is processed by Supabase if you enable two-step verification.
- Server logs. Like any website, the server that hosts these pages may briefly record technical request data, such as your IP address, browser type and the page requested, to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. We do not use this to build profiles of visitors.
Account emails are sent through the configured email delivery provider. Folren accounts do not upload your local films or connect your Claude or ChatGPT account. No payment form is active.
The Folren app on your computer
- Your films stay local. Projects, scripts, narration, timing, pictures, music, renders and exports are stored in the Folren folder on your computer. Rendering and word timing run on your computer.
- No telemetry. The app does not send usage statistics, crash reports or your projects to Folren. Its local server only accepts connections from your own computer.
- Your keys stay with you. API keys you enter, for example for Gemini, ElevenLabs or Pexels, are saved in a settings file in your Folren folder and are sent only to the service they belong to. Folren never reads or copies the sign-in files of Claude Code or Codex.
Services you connect
Some work needs an online service. When you use it, that service receives the content needed for the task you asked for, and its own privacy policy and terms apply. Folren does not include, control or pay for these services.
- Claude, through Claude Code (Anthropic): your film's idea, research, script, shot plans and the editing requests you send, using your own Claude account.
- Codex, through the Codex CLI (OpenAI): the same kind of planning and writing content, using your own ChatGPT account.
- Gemini (Google) or ElevenLabs: the narration text to be spoken, and for ElevenLabs music, the music request.
- Picture and footage sources (Wikimedia Commons, Openverse, the Internet Archive and, if you connect it, Pexels): search words for each shot. If you add a contact in Settings to speed up image search, it is sent to Wikimedia only, in each search request.
- Public YouTube research: when you ask Folren to look at public channels, it reads publicly listed video information. It does not sign in to YouTube or use your account.
Your rights
Your films can be removed on your own computer by deleting a film in Folren or the Folren folder. When website accounts are enabled, contact Folren to request access to or deletion of account information. For information held independently by a connected service, contact that service. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to complain to your data protection authority.
Changes
We will update this page when Folren changes what it collects, and show the date it takes effect at the top.
